The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
