The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
