The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
