And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
