AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. 82 So the rumbling overtook them in the morning; 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, save in truth. Surely the Hour is coming; so pardon thou, with a gracious pardoning. 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator and knows (everything). 86 And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 Those who made the Quran into shreds. 91 so by your Lord, We will question them all 92 for whatever they have done! 93 Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and avoid the polytheists. 94 Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers. 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 And indeed We know that you are disheartened by their speech. 97 Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. 98 And go on worshipping your Lord till the certainty (of death) comes upon you. 99
