And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
