The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
