The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
