The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
