Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
