The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
