Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. (The verses of the Holy Qur’an or the angels or the winds). 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 and the rain-spreading winds, 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 As justification or warning, 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 until an appointed time? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
