The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 We have indeed placed all that is on the earth as its adornment in order that We may test them, who among them has the best deeds. 7 And indeed We shall one day make all that is on it a barren plain. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Then We roused them to find out which of the party had the correct account of the duration of their sleep in the cave. 12
