And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
