Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
