Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 And if thou (Muhammad) ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely answer: The Mighty, the Knower created them; 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
