We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
