Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
