The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
