These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
