The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
