Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
