The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
