Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
