Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
