AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 And they used to carve dwellings in the hills, without fear. 82 But they were seized by the mighty blast towards the morning; 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness. 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 concerning what they have been doing. 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 verily, We shall suffice thee against all who [now] deride [this message - all] 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 We know indeed thy breast is straitened by the things they say. 97 Proclaim thy Lord's praise, and be of those that bow, 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
