The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
