The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
