The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
