The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
