The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
