The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
