(Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister; 35 And We said: "Go you both to the people who have denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)." Then We destroyed them with utter destruction. 36 And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- 37 Likewise were destroyed the `Ad and the Thamud and the people of the Rass, and many a generation in between. 38 We admonished each one of them by citing the examples (of those who were destroyed before them) and ultimately annihilated all of them. 39 Indeed they must have come upon the town on which an evil rain had poured down. Did they not see it? Yet they have no faith in the Resurrection. 40 Whenever they see you, they mock you (saying): 'Is this whom Allah has sent as a Messenger? 41 He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way. 42 Hast thou seen him who has taken his caprice to be his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over them? 43 Do you think that most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle, no, they are further astray from the Path. 44
