The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
