۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
