It is God who takes away men's souls upon their death and the souls of the living during their sleep. Then He withholds those for whom He has ordained death and restores the souls of others for an appointed term. There are certainly signs in this for those who reflect. 42 Have they taken others for intercessors beside Allah! Say thou: What! even though they own not aught and understand not? 43 Say, "Intercession belongs to God. To Him belongs the heavens and the earth and to Him you will all return." 44 And when Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice. 45 Say, "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ." 46 And though those who do wrong possess all that is in the earth, and therewith as much again, they verily will seek to ransom themselves therewith on the Day of Resurrection from the awful doom; and there will appear unto them, from their Lord, that wherewith they never reckoned. 47 And the evil of what they had earned would become visible to them; and what they used to mock would surround them from all sides. 48 When an affliction befalls a human he calls upon Us, but when We confer Our Favor on him, he says: 'I have only been given it on account of knowledge. 'Rather, it is but a trial, yet most do not know. 49 Those before them did say it indeed, but what they earned availed them not. 50 and the evil consequences of their deeds overtook them. The wrongdoers among these will also be overtaken by the evil consequences of their deeds. They will be utterly unable to frustrate (Us). 51 Do they not know that Allah enlarges and straitens the provision of whomsoever He pleases? Therein are Signs for those that believe. 52
