The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 He created man. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
