Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 rain from the sky, 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
