▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What took you into the hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty had come upon us. 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
