Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
