The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
