Believers, obey God and His Messengers and do not turn away from Him when you hear (His commands). 20 Nor be like those who say, "We hear," but listen not: 21 ۞ The worst of creatures in the eyes of God are those who are deaf and dumb and devoid of sense. 22 Had Allah known of any good in them, He would indeed have made them listen, and even if He had made them listen, they would but have turned away, averse (to the truth). 23 O believers, respond to God and the Messenger when He calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God stands between a man and his heart, and that to Him you shall be mustered. 24 And fear the trial that shall not afflict those alone who among you do wrong; and know that verily Allah is severe in chastising. 25 Remember, when you were few and powerless in the land, afraid of despoliation at the hands of men. But then God sheltered and helped you to strength, and provided for you good things that you may perhaps be grateful. 26 O ye who believe! Betray not Allah and His messenger, nor knowingly betray your trusts. 27 And know ye that your possessions and your progeny are but a trial; and that it is Allah with Whom lies your highest reward. 28
