And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
