He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
