So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon. 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this, but most of them know not.
