The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
