The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
