Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
