The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
