Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
